Art of Hosting invites me to reconsider my understanding of leadership, collaboration, and change. It challenges me to practice empathy, to recognize the limits of my thinking and step beyond them. It provides me tools and practices that allow me to help others explore and navigate the challenges and opportunities they are experiencing. Thanks to the Portland team for sharing their practice in such an open, authentic way.

Art of Hosting offers stimulating and fresh ways for groups to analyze, problem-solve and ensure participation within any organization. Talented facilitators introduce a variety of approaches and techniques and workshop attendees learn by using them in real time. AOH has become our default approach to group engagement because it is very flexible, effective and fits our culture. A worthy investment that consistently yields great insights and buy-in.

The Art of Hosting has been a gift to my work as a leader of progressive faith communities. The tools have equipped me with ways to access the deeper knowledge of the groups I serve and empower the participants to become co-creators of innovative solutions to really difficult problems. That alone would be worth the investment. But perhaps the greatest gift of this training was seeing how many others, across different sectors, are facing the same challenges we are in the church of hospicing old forms that no longer serve us while trying to reimagine and troubleshoot new ways connecting with a shifting culture. I knew Art of Hosting would offer a lot of gifts, but perhaps the greatest was the chance to learn from people whose sense of possibility has not been limited by the confines of what has always existed in my own context.

The Connect Battle Ground Coalition relies on opportunities to gather and connect. The Art of Hosting transformed those gatherings from just social events to productive relational structures that provided a foundation for our future and the means to grow and thrive together.

           Executive Director, Connect Battleground Coalition

It practices what it espouses = fantastic.

This workshop was a very enriching experience that opened for me a spectrum of options with important tools, but especially a spectrum of options to facilitate creative leadership so that each workshop participant becomes a leader himself/herself. I am not a lone leader anymore, I now have the tools to open the door for others to be leaders as well. In the work I do, it is critical for each and everyone of us to be involved in the issues that concern our society and we need new ways to bring our knowledge, talent, and wisdom to share with others.
